Projectors: what to buy, what to skip (2026)

Shopping for a projector on Amazon.in? This hub collects every projector Buyrskip has checked and sorts them the only way that matters: buy it, or skip it. 3 of the 3 models here earn a straight buy; the rest are worth considering only in some homes. Home and portable projectors compared on brightness, resolution, smart apps and room size.

What decides it

Brightness: 300 ANSI lumens or more for a dark room; 1,000 or more if there is ambient light. Resolution: native 1080p is the minimum for movies; beware of "4K supported" claims on 720p projectors. Apps: built-in Google TV or a Fire TV Stick makes streaming easier.

The models we would buy

Start with the XGIMI MoGo 2 Pro: 1080p portable projector with Google TV. The BenQ TH575 is the better buy if you want a bright, big picture in a living room. Usual prices run from ₹11,999 to ₹62,999. See the full buy-or-skip list or the head-to-head XGIMI MoGo 2 Pro vs BenQ TH575.

Buying a projector in India

Many cheap projectors list huge "lumens" figures that are not ANSI lumens; always compare ANSI figures and read the native resolution. Prices on Amazon.in move in a pattern. The deepest cuts land in the Great Indian Festival (around Navratri and Diwali), Prime Day in July and the Republic Day sale in January, usually with extra bank-card discounts and no-cost EMI. Judge a deal against the usual price we show, never against the MRP.

Quick answers

Can a projector replace a TV? In a dark room, a good 1080p or 4K projector gives a far bigger picture than a TV; in bright daytime rooms, a TV is better. Do I need a screen? A smooth, white wall works, but a screen improves brightness and contrast.

Order from Amazon itself or the brand's own storefront so the India warranty applies, keep the GST invoice and register the product with the brand straight away. For ACs, geysers, chimneys and purifiers, ask whether installation and the demo visit are free before you pay.

How we make the call: we read spec sheets, manuals and warranty terms, check how good the service network is in India and track the usual Amazon.in price. A product gets “Buy” only if we would tell a friend to buy it at that price. Brands cannot pay for a verdict.

Why listen to Buyrskip

We do not sell anything, and no brand can buy a place on our lists. When a best-seller has a real flaw, we say skip it. Our Amazon.in links may earn us a small commission at no extra cost to you, and it never changes a verdict.
