Amazon sale calendar for India: when to buy what (and when to skip the “deal”)

Quick answer

Big-ticket electronics and appliances are cheapest in the Great Indian Festival (around Navratri and Diwali), followed by Prime Day (July) and the Republic Day sale (January). Buy ACs and coolers before summer, geysers before winter, and judge every deal against the usual price, never the MRP.

The rhythm of Amazon.in prices

Three sales do most of the heavy lifting on Amazon.in every year: the Republic Day sale in late January, Prime Day in July (for Prime members) and the Great Indian Festival, which opens around Navratri and runs for weeks through Diwali. Between them come smaller events, weekend bank offers and lightning deals, usually on older stock.

The pattern is useful because it lets you plan. If you know what you need, you rarely have to pay full price for it.

What to buy in which sale

  • ACs and air coolers: Republic Day sale or February–March, before the heat. Our AC buy-or-skip list shows the usual price of each model.
  • Phones, laptops and TVs: the Great Indian Festival, when exchange bonuses and bank offers stack. See the best smart TVs.
  • Mixer grinders, air fryers and kitchen gifts: October, in the run-up to Diwali. Start with our mixer grinder list.
  • Geysers and room heaters: September or October, before winter demand.
  • Earbuds, smartwatches and power banks: almost every sale; Prime Day is a good time if Diwali is too far away.

Spotting a fake deal

The struck-out MRP is the least useful number on the page. Many products almost never sell at MRP, so a big percentage off can still be the normal price. Instead, compare the deal with the usual price range we show on every Buyrskip product page: if the deal is inside that range, it is a normal price; below it, it is a real deal.

Also check the exact model number. Sale listings sometimes push last year’s version or a bundle with accessories you do not need.

Bank offers, no-cost EMI and exchange

  • Bank offers: an instant 10% discount on selected cards is common; check the cap and whether it applies on EMI.
  • No-cost EMI: the interest comes back as a discount, but you may still pay a processing fee and GST on the interest. Add it up.
  • Exchange: handy for phones and TVs, but the final value depends on inspection, so do not count on the quoted maximum.

The Buyrskip way

Decide what to buy before the sale starts, using our buy-or-skip lists and comparisons, write down the usual price and wait. When the sale price drops below that range, buy it. If it does not, skip the sale; another one is never far away.

Frequently asked questions

Which Amazon sale is the biggest in India?

The Great Indian Festival, which starts around Navratri and runs into Diwali. It has the most categories on offer and the deepest bank-card discounts.

Should I wait for a sale to buy an AC?

Only if the sale lands before the heat. The Republic Day sale in January and offers in February and March are the sweet spot; by April and May demand peaks and installation slots fill up.

Is a bigger discount always a better deal?

No. A 60% discount on an inflated MRP can still be a normal price. Compare the deal with the usual price range we show on each product.

Buy at the right time

This post is part of the practical advice Buyrskip publishes to help Indian shoppers spend less and regret less. Pair it with our buy-or-skip lists, comparisons and buying guides, which turn the advice into specific models with a clear call and a usual price on Amazon.in. Every call on Buyrskip is independent, and every product shows its usual price on Amazon.in.

How we decide

How we make the call: we read spec sheets, manuals and warranty terms, check how good the service network is in India and track the usual Amazon.in price. A product gets “Buy” only if we would tell a friend to buy it at that price. Brands cannot pay for a verdict.

Pay the right price

Prices on Amazon.in move in a pattern. The deepest cuts land in the Great Indian Festival (around Navratri and Diwali), Prime Day in July and the Republic Day sale in January, usually with extra bank-card discounts and no-cost EMI. Judge a deal against the usual price we show, never against the MRP.

Order from Amazon itself or the brand's own storefront so the India warranty applies, keep the GST invoice and register the product with the brand straight away. For ACs, geysers, chimneys and purifiers, ask whether installation and the demo visit are free before you pay.

Why listen to Buyrskip

We do not sell anything, and no brand can buy a place on our lists. When a best-seller has a real flaw, we say skip it. Our Amazon.in links may earn us a small commission at no extra cost to you, and it never changes a verdict.

Before you hit buy

Three quick checks save most regrets: the exact model number (variants often change capacity or features), who the seller is, and how long and what kind of warranty you get. Last year's model is often a smart buy when it drops in a sale.

Make it last

Most appliances fail early because of dust, hard water or voltage spikes. Clean filters on schedule, descale anything that heats water, use a surge protector or stabiliser where the manual asks for one, and keep the invoice for warranty claims.
